Create Your Own Poll

Frequently Asked Questions

I signed up with Survey.com, so why can’t I log in?

At this time the login for our web site is for the "Create Your Own Poll Service" exclusively. This is different from our Online Research Panel, which doesn't require a login and is administered exclusively through email.

How do I view the results of my poll?

After you log in, you will see a list of all of the polls you have created. Click on the “Results” next to the poll title you wish to see results on. The result will be presented in graph form on the right side of the page. You can also choose to download the raw data for the select poll by clicking on the “Download Data” button.

How do I create a poll with more than five questions?

Currently our free poll service only allows for 5 questions per poll. Some of our users have chosen to break longer polls into separate parts. For example, ten questions are entered into 2 separate polls with the titles “…Part 1” and “…Part 2” and you just ask everyone to answer both.

Do I have to ask 5 questions for my poll to work?

No. You may ask any amount from 1 to 5 questions. Just fill out as much of the form as you want. When you post your poll, only the questions you have asked will appear.

How do I get people to answer my poll?

Once you post a poll, you are brought to a page that gives you different options for how to publish your poll. You can always get to this page by clicking “Publish” on the main poll page. There are three ways to share your poll with others. To “Link To Your Poll,” copy and paste the link into an email to your friends, onto message boards, wherever you like. To “Embed Your Poll,” meaning to place it directly into your Web site or blog, copy and paste the HTML script tag into your Web page's HMTL code. You can also request to have your poll listed on Survey.com. After clicking on “Request to be listed on Survey.com” enter a short description of the poll and select the subject and hit Submit. We will review your poll and let you know if it will be posted on the site.

How many people are allowed to answer my poll?

As many as you like. Go ahead and share your poll with everyone you know and see how many responses you can get. A new feature allows you to search for the most popular polls on the Web site, so every answer counts.

How long can my poll be active?

Your poll can be active for as long as you like. It will continue to accept answers until you choose to close it.

How do I stop my poll from accepting responses/answers?

After you log in, you will see a list of all of the polls you have created. Click on the “Close” button next to the poll title you wish to close. Once closed, you will not be able to open a poll again so you are asked to confirm if you would like to close it. After you click “Close” again, your poll will no longer be able to accept responses.

Why was my request to be listed on Survey.com rejected?

Survey.com reviews each poll to determine if it is a good fit for our Web site and online community. We do not post every poll that is submitted. However, we encourage you to continue writing polls and requesting for them to be listed on Survey.com.

How can I edit my poll after I have posted it?

Once you have posted a poll you will not be able to go back and edit it. Before posting, you can edit a poll anytime by selecting the “Edit” button on your home list of polls. If you have already posted your poll and want to edit it, you are more than welcome to just write another poll.

How can I customize how my poll looks?

Select the “Publish” button from the main menu. In the “Embed Your Poll” section there is a button that allows you to “Customize Poll.” Currently, you can customize your poll’s size, color, and font. The preview pane on the right will show you what your poll will look like once it is embedded onto your Web page.

Why doesn’t my poll appear customized on the Survey.com Web site?

The Customizing feature allows you to blend your polls with your Web site or blog only when you embed them. When you link to a poll or when it is listed on the Survey.com Web site it will appear in our standard format so that it blends with our Web site.
